Health & Safety
At a glance
Operational health and safety controls wrapped around every competition: pre-event safety checklists with role-owned sign-off, live incident reporting with investigation workflow, level-based first-aid staffing requirements, weather and heat-policy enforcement against on-site WBGT readings, and a confidential safeguarding incident channel backed by an officer directory with strict escalation timers and routing.
How it works
Health and Safety wraps every competition with a pre-event, in-event, and post-event lifecycle. During event creation, the platform attaches a safety checklist template scoped to the competition level — a club open requires basic first-aid kit and shaded rest area, a national championship requires a qualified medic on site, defibrillator within two minutes, and emergency-vehicle access plan. Each item is owned by a named role, completed via the organiser app with photo evidence where applicable, and approved by the technical delegate before the competition is allowed to open registration check-in.
Incident reporting is live throughout the event: any official, medic, player, or spectator with a kiosk QR can lodge an incident with category (injury, accident, equipment failure, conduct), severity, and immediate actions. High-severity incidents auto-trigger an investigation workflow with assigned investigator, evidence locker, witness statements, and a 30-day report deadline. First-aid requirements are encoded as a rules table per federation level — minimum medic credentials, response time, equipment list — and the platform refuses to publish an event whose attached medical staffing falls short.
Weather and heat policy modules ingest forecast data and on-site readings; when wet-bulb globe temperature crosses configured thresholds, the platform raises an organiser alert and may auto-extend break intervals or recommend suspension. Safeguarding has its own confidential channel separated from operational reporting: a player or witness submits a safeguarding concern, which is routed exclusively to the federation's safeguarding officers — never to club officials potentially involved — using the directory, with escalation timers (24h acknowledge, 7d initial assessment, 30d disposition) and integration to law-enforcement referral templates where required by national law.
Key capabilities
- Level-aware competition safety checklists with role-owned sign-off and photo evidence
- Open-channel incident reporting with auto-triggered investigation workflow
- First-aid staffing rules enforced before event publication
- Heat and weather policy with WBGT thresholds and automatic break extension
- Confidential safeguarding channel routed only to federation safeguarding officers
- Escalation timers with 24h/7d/30d safeguarding response SLAs
- Safeguarding officer directory with jurisdictional and language coverage
In practice
It is 38 degrees on day two of a regional masters in Marseille. The platform's heat module reads the on-site WBGT sensor at 32.4 and crosses the orange threshold. The technical delegate receives an alert with three recommendations: extend rest between rounds to twenty minutes, deploy additional water stations, and schedule a medical sweep at every break.
He accepts the first two through the app, which pushes the new schedule to all referees and players. Mid-afternoon a player twists an ankle; the referee scans the kiosk QR, files a moderate-severity injury report, and the on-site medic is paged, treats the player, and dispositions the case as match-withdrawal — all linked to the player's medical record for follow-up.
