Umpire Training
En bref
Umpire Training delivers the courses, multilingual online modules, mentorship matching, practical exams, and continuing-education tracking that move officials up the federation's grade ladder. It supports tenant-configurable candidacy periods (such as Germany's Anwaerterjahr), mandatory refresher courses for lapsed certifications, and configurable exam question banks with point-threshold scoring and multi-part written-plus-practical structures.
Comment ça fonctionne
Each tenant publishes a course catalogue keyed to its grade ladder, exposing the curriculum, prerequisites, schedule, language, and provider for every step on the path. Candidates browse the catalogue, register, and consume the online training modules covering FIPJP rule articles, video scenarios, and interactive case studies. Modules track completion at lesson level and feed the candidate's transcript.
When prerequisite hours, prior grade, and any tenant-defined candidacy period are met, the candidate becomes eligible to schedule a practical exam. Candidacy is enforced as a time-based gate; for example Germany's Anwaerterjahr requires twelve calendar months of observed activity before the exam can be sat. The exam question bank is configured per tenant: question count, point thresholds, multi-part exams combining written and practical, and ordering rules such as written-before-practical. Germany's bank, for instance, runs 204 questions with a 368-point threshold; FIPJP exams add a maximum of two candidates per nation per year and a sixty-year age limit.
Mentorship matching pairs trainees with experienced officials who guide them through observed assignments, log feedback, and confirm readiness for the practical phase. Continuing-education requirements are evaluated annually: officials must accumulate a minimum number of CE credits, attended seminars, or rule-update modules to keep their grade active. If an official lets their certification lapse, a refresher course (Spain's reciclaje, France's recyclage) is mandated before reinstatement, and the platform routes them automatically into the appropriate course rather than letting them re-enter the registry.
Training material is managed per language so each federation can publish translated workbooks, slide decks, and exam preparation packs without forking the syllabus. Material versioning ensures candidates always study the rule edition that will be examined.

En pratique
Klaus, a German club umpire aiming for the DPV B grade, enrols in the LV course through the catalogue, completes online modules on game stoppage and obstacle rules, and is matched with a mentor by the platform. Twelve months into his Anwaerterjahr, with 28 mentor-logged observations behind him, the system unlocks the written exam. He sits the 204-question paper, clears the 368-point threshold, and progresses to the practical.
After both parts pass, his profile flips to DPV B and he becomes eligible for nationally sanctioned competitions. A reminder lands a year later asking him to log CE credits to retain the grade.
